Family Fun Weekend

What a fun memorial day weekend we had! And it was full! On Saturday, the first thing I did was give Luke a haircut that he's been asking for for weeks now. Then we went off to the farmer's market to get some yummy yummy strawberries and some veggies for Isaac. Luke's sister Catherine came with us since she didn't have anything else going on. Isaac had a rough one but recovered well. We then enjoyed lunch at Bojangle's them spent some time at our pool. Since Catherine was there, I was able to lay out for some sun while she and Luke played with Isaac in the pool. For dinner, we grilled up some chicken and veggies that we bought fresh that day! I don't have any pictures of this day.

On Sunday, Luke surprised us and took us to the museum of natural sciences downtown. For as long as I've lived in Raleigh, I've never been to the capitol or this part of downtown. So fun! It was so neat and oh so educational. Isaac liked staring at his pacifier more than anything. Here's Luke and the boy right outside the museum. And me and the boy inside a tree; there were fake bats right above us. Mr. Beaver in Narnia! It was neat how the whole musuem was set up like this with scenes that looked so real with snakes and beavers and birds and things all over. The boys and the dinosaur. And watch out for the giant bees!!!
On Monday, Suzie and the kids came from Greensboro to enjoy a day at the pool. We were literally there all day. The rain was hit and miss but overall it turned out to be a really nice day! And thegood news was, since it was overcast for most of the day, no one was at the pool, we had it all to ourselves. Here's Malikhi and Zhayla jumping in! We had yummy yummy KFC for lunch. About 5 minutes after this pic was taken, the rain poured down on us and we just huddled under our little umbrella. I just kept telling the kids that this was all part of our adventure. I had so much fun playing with the kids, except, I think I still have water in my ears! Here's Suzie and the kids: and Luke and the boy. So sweet! And now it's back to normal with dishes to wash, laundry to do, and luke at work. I just love spending time as a family!

Finished

Well, I've finally finished completely Luke's T-shirt blanket. He was so excited about it that we slept with it that night.

To see pictures of the completed blanket, please visit Something Wonderful.

This is a new blog I've created that will be completely devoted to my crafts and things. It will also include recipes and other adventures in being a mom that some people may not be interested in, like me making Isaac's baby food in ice cube trays!!!

Please frequent this blog and share it with people you know!!!! Thanks for your support!

Dedication Mother's Pool Day

Sunday was such a great day. Not only was it my first official Mother's day, but Isaac got dedicated yesterday. Luke wrote a funny cute little letter from Isaac's point of view saying how I'm the best mom ever and that he would've literally died without me. That was accompanied by some really pretty jewelry I've been needing.

After church and Isaac's dedication, we all went to lunch at El Rodeo. Luke's family, and my sister and her kids were there to see Isaac dedicated. I was so thankful that they came. After that, we all came back to our home to have a dessert celebration for Isaac. The Watkins family came to celebrate with us. They are a special part of our lives. Luke shared what was special about the dedication. He shared the prayer of Hannah from 1 Samuel 1:27
"I prayed for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the LORD. For his whole life he will be given over to the LORD."

This is what they read during the dedication at church. Luke also shared from Acts 17:11
"Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true."

This is the verse that we pray over Isaac daily. We prayed ot over him before he was even born; that he will be a man of noble character, that he will one day eagerly receive the message and that he will examine the scriptures for himself everyday to see if what we're saying is true so that he will have a faith of his own, not one that is attatched to us. This verse meant so much to us that we almost gave him Berean as a middle name. Then his initials would be IBM instead of IAM, both kinda quirky cool. After that we spent some time praying for Isaac which was also such a sweet time.

After everyone left, we headed out to the pool for Isaac's first time. What fun!!! The water was a little chilly but we adjusted well. Isaac was so funny in his floatie. I envisioned him sitting straight in it but I guess because he can't sit up on his own yet, he would lean far back and end up just lazily lounging in it. I love my family and love when we get to spend such special times together. I've put a slide show below of our exciting day!

Memories Memories

T-shirts are so hard to throw away because each one has such a significant meaning. Unfortunatley they pile up and pile up and they get more worn and just don't fit anymore. Over two years ago, Luke was cleaning out his closet at his apartment and his parent's house and was having a really hard time throwing them away. This is significant for Luke because he usually has NO trouble doing it, especially with my things. So I took on a project I'd seen once. Two years later, progress. I don't know why I stopped working on this blanket. I think maybe it's cause I was getting ready to leave Charlotte, then we got engaged, then it pretty much just stayed hidden under our bed. I'm so close to being done with it. All I have left to do is sew on the t-shirt backing and I'll be done!!!!

For those of you who have known us for a long time, please share a memory you have of Luke wearing one of these shirts. I'll go first. The shirt that says "Just for feet", I wore that the halloween that I dressed up as Luke. Geez, I was a sophmore in college here. Isaac'll love this pic someday!
