Astronauts and Dinosaurs

Before it was 104 degrees this week, we actually had a few nice days at the start of the week. It was sunny but cool and breezy. I love windy days! Anywho, a sweet friend invited us to the museum in Durham. She has a membership which means we all got in for free.
I love Simon's face in this one!

The dinosaurs were his favorite part. and secretly, mine too! I was amazed by them all.

My friend, Susan, who invited us, helping Simon dig for fossils.

The sailboats. Luke has memories playing with these when he was young.

You can't see them, but the bears were out!

He was a little hesitant at first, but eventually like the clouds.

We didn't get home until 4:30!! The boys were totally exhausted but had a great time. Isaac is still talking about the dinosaurs and when we can go again. He's gonna have to wait until the temp is at least under 100 degrees.

Sunday HymnSing

’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise,
And to know, “Thus saith the Lord!”

Refrain:
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er;
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
Oh, for grace to trust Him more!

Oh, how sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to trust His cleansing blood;
And in simple faith to plunge me
’Neath the healing, cleansing flood!

Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life and rest, and joy and peace.

I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou art with me,
Wilt be with me to the end.

About Father's Day

We had such a fun Father's Day this year. The boys are getting older and a lot more fun on days like this.
A few months back, Luke and I talked and said that Mother and Father's Day should really be about honoring mom and dad and making it about children towards parents. We didn't want another day where we had to frantically ask "what do you want for M/F's Day?", worry about money spent, where to eat, what to buy. There's enough of that with Christmas and birthdays. Don't get me wrong, we still bought presents, but the heart behind it was different. For our family, the love for me as a mom, or Luke as a dad, isn't determined by how much we spend on a gift, but by the forethought that is put into making the day special WITH the kids.

So here's how we spent Father's Day.
A hug from Isaac which can honestly be all Luke and I would need :)

 First gift, a box of Hamburger Helper. Luke loves it. I don't. So what better way to honor Luke than to cook him something he loves but we never eat.
 After church, the gift of playing XBOX with Isaac while I made the Hamburger Helper. Being a great dad and husband means he doesn't get to play as often as he would like. He loved it!
After we ate, we started opening the rest of our presents. Earlier that week, I took the boys to the Dollar Tree and told them to think (and I kept repeating) "What would daddy like, what would daddy like?" That's what made these next gifts special. They picked them out. And yes, only $1.

A too small fedora from me. HA! It's the thought that counts.
 Isaac even picked out all the bags the gifts would go in and put the tissue paper in the bag.
 Isaac picked out a water gun for Luke. Sweet boy. He was so excited to tell him! I had to keep shushing him so he wouldn't spoil the surprise for Luke  :)

 Safety goggles from Simon. These here hilarious! Again, he picked them out himself. And check out the huge bag that Isaac chose with happy birthday tissue paper. heehee!

 And Luke's favorite, a not-so-new Green Lantern shirt!!! Not so new because I painted the emblem on a shirt that he already had, which for Luke, is even better!

 It's looks so awesome on him!! And now his collection is complete! (pictures to come)
 Here's a snapshpt of Luke with all his gifts.
It was a fun day for all of us and Luke really did feel honored! He had that satisfied sigh at the end of it all and told me as he often does, "I love my family."

And most of all, we adore our Heavenly Father, who loved us first and adopted us into His family. Praise Him!

Isaac Got the Camera

I love it when Isaac gets the camera. I see the things that he notices and get a little sneak peak into our lives through his eyes.
Just me.

The owie on his knee. He was very sensitive to it.

Take Me Out to the Ballgame!

I historically, never was a huge baseball fan. And neither was Luke. Then Isaac was born. And he LOVES baseball, and now, we're a baseball family and I love it.

Yesterday, Isaac started T-ball with the parks and rec. We've been looking forward to this day since Christmas! IT. WAS. AWESOME. It was 100% better than soccer! Maybe because Isaac loves baseball and plays everyday, whereas soccer was just an extra. But also, the class was better, the coach was better, everything was better! PLUS, there wasn't a "no pictures" rule so we got a lot more pictures and videos! I have a lot of pictures so here we go!

Ready to go!
Little brother ready to cheer him on!

Love these boys!
First, warm up.
Learning to throw. It was a lot different than what we do at home.
Waiting to catch...
Still waiting :)

Finally!

Throwing with a friend
After a water break, it was time to run the bases. The coach had a great technique for organization. All the kids stand in their own hula hoop and wait in line. When the one in front of them is empty, they move up. Just the type of boundaries a group of preschoolers needs.
Waiting in line.
Taking off

He may have missed 3rd base :) But look at him go!!
Daddy helping and Simon trying to get in on the game
 Finally, it's time to hit. I loved that the coach used these hula hoops. Everything was color coordinated. So if you stood in the blue hoop you hit the blue ball and ran to get the blue ball. So great for little kids and so much easier for the coach to not have kids running all over the place.

Isaac loves to tap the ground with the bat before he hits the ball and he does it every time. We still don't know who taught him that. But the coach said in the 3 years he's done the t-ball class, he's never seen a child to that. HA! GO ISAAC! He had such a good time and got a lot of individual attention which is just what he needed.

After T-ball, it was time for BASEBALL!!!!

 It was $1 concessions so we got some hotdogs and fries. Yummy!

 I'm still amazed how Isaac just sits there and watches. Every time the ball came anywhere near us, he threw his little glove in the air ready to catch! sweet boy. Even Simon did okay! He needed equal parts daddy's lap, standing, walking around, and eating of course! We got home crazy late but it was all worth it!

Because I know I NEVER say this, I LOVE BEING A MOM OF BOYS!!! I'll take superheros and baseball ANYDAY!!
