Daniel Gets Married!

First of all, Luke I recently stimulated the economy by buying a new camera. I took about 600 pictures of it this weekend in boone for Daniel's wedding. But, I will post only this one.....Luke's little brother and my dear friend married beautiful Alinna this weekend. I'm emotional even now just thinking about it. We love Daniel deeply and are so proud of him. It was a great long weekend with lots of celebrating and LOTS of eating. It was also a weekend filled with deep emotion and sadness. Not only did Daniel get married which is weepy enough, but they are moving to California, so far away, and that's what's really sad for us all. Our whole family spent the greater part of the weekend crying. To me, he was a great friend of mine long before I ever was his sister-in-law. We are sooo happy for him and yet so sad that he'll be so far away. The wedding was so beautiful and God provided a wonderful weekend to celebrate His goodness to them and to our family; we all love Alinna. Please join us in praying for Daniel & Alinna as they make the long road trip to Cali and settle into marriage and life in a brand new place.

A Week with Josie

This is sweet little Josephine. She is Missy's best friend, except for CallieGirl. Josie belongs to Mike and Nancy Corson and they are our friends and dog sitting buddies. They just spent a week in the Dominican on a vacation and we watched Josie for them. We loved having her here. Her and Missy are polar opposites. Josie spends most of the day pacing and sniffing and egging Missy on to play and Missy just lays in her bed lazily with that " will you be STILL" look on her face. Here are some more pics of little Josie:

And one of MissyGirl so she doesn't feel left out.

And here's us at our family dinner last week.

Hymns For Life III

This is a hymn that I've been singing for years now but it hasn't been until recently that God weighed the meaning of it on my heart. I was sitting in the ice box recording room doing the powerpoint for church for this song when the video director told me about how he cried for days after he heard this hymn at a wedding. I can see why this hymn can have this effect on people.

How deep the Father's love for us,
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure

How great the pain of searing loss,
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the chosen One,
Bring many sons to glory

Behold the Man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice,
Call out among the scoffers

It was my sin that helf Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished

I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast inJesus Christ
His death and resurrection

Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom

Read it again and again and again and remember the sacrifice that Christ paid for us. Why should I gain from His reward? I will never be able to answer that question. I live everyday feeling like I have to earn this by the the things I do and live in fear that something bad will happen to me because of my sin. But this I know with all my heart: Why should I gain?....because He loves me just because, and that's enough for me!

A Day of Firsts!!

Today was my very first mother's day and my wonderful husband was very sweet to me. He gave me a special gift for baby and wrote me a super sweet mother's day card from baby's perspective. So sweet it made me cry! My mom called me yesterday to be sure that she was the very first one ever to tell my happy mother's day. And that was really special!

It was also a day of firsts for little Baby Mehaffie! He (I always say he and Luke always says she, but we don't know yet) got his first little baby things:

First nighties from Daddy

First crocs & socks from Anna

First night gown & cap from Grandma (she'll be mutee)

And a little blankie and mittens from mami (that's me!)

We are so glad that the secret is finally out and we can celebrate with all our friends and family.

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's for a while, new moms, and moms to be! I love you all!!

Henderson's Come To Visit!

On Tuesday, Brian, Rachel and Abby Henderson came to visit and as is tradition, we sat them on our big red chair for a picture. We went to college with them and they've been living in Connecticut since they graduated. They found out they were pregnant the day before our wedding and now they have little Abby. I felt like she was a celebrity. I've only ever seen pictures of her and now she was in my house! We had so much fun with them remembering college times. Brian, Rachel and I were youth leaders in our college church at that's where we really got close. Brian is still a youth pastor and he loves it. Abby was super cute and talking alot as she cruised our whole apartment. I tried taking a picture with Abby but she is so much into moving and grooving right now that sitting for a picture just wasn't as exciting! Thanks for coming to our home! Can't wait until we can see you again!!!
